Sorry but I hate the expression gotten..

I know my friends from the USA use it as part of their normal language but I just hate it and always have..

Now there must be something that we use that you hate, so please do tell.

Sue

Hi Sue,
I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Could you give an example of the use of "gotten" in the way that you dislike?

Hi John

You got it all in one go. I hate gonna and gotta as you have used them.

I had a strict English teacher at school plus strict parents who taught me to speake propperly - I can't find the spell checker on this computer as Steve doesn't seem to have put one on - and I was bought up to use language as it was meant to be used.

Please and Thank You were insisted on at all times and woe betide us if we didn't use them - our neighbour was a dinner lady at school and reported back to mum if we didn't say them when being served our school dinners. By the time I was a senior school they were in built responses and I still use them now.

Sue
